“Crater Earrings” are constructed from recycled silver, hand-formed with a patina added to bring out the texture and contrasts.Bars are 1/4 inch wide and 1 inch long, and dangle a total of an inch and a half from ears. Ear wires are handmade from recycled sterling silver.
The earrings are made from precious metal clay (PMC), which consists of recycled silver particles embedded in a binder. The clay is worked into a desired shape, dried, and then fired in a kiln. At high temperatures, the binder burns off, leaving .999% fine silver! The silver piece can then be treated with traditional metalsmithing techniques, such as dapping, forging, burnishing, and polishing. A patina is added for character and to highlight textures.
Earring backs have a contemporary linear texture and are signed by the artist.
Each pair is entirely hand-crafted. Please expect minor variations.
