Silver “crater” earrings, are handformed, with high relief and a gentle curve to add depth to the design.
Patina adds a sharp contrast, highlighting the contemporary, geometric design.
Disks are just over a half inch in diameter and hang an inch from the ear. Handmade sterling ear wires.
The earrings are made from precious metal clay (PMC), which consists of recycled silver particles embedded in a binder. The clay is worked into a desired shape, dried, and then fired in a kiln. At high temperatures, the binder burns off, leaving .999% fine silver! The silver piece can then be treated with traditional metalsmithing techniques, such as dapping, forging, burnishing, and polishing. A patina is added for character and to highlight textures.
Earring backs have a classic, linear texture and are signed by the artist.
Each pair is made entirely by hand. Please expect minor variations.
